Donation Pick Up guidelines

WHAT WE ACCEPT/DO NOT ACCEPT

 

2nd is the New 1st has strict quality standards. All items accepted by 2nd is the New 1st for donation must be in great to gently used condition. We do not accept broken or incomplete items. All items must be thoroughly cleaned before brought into the store (free of stains, pet hair, etc.) Items will be rejected if at anytime it is discovered that the item has any of the following: rips, stains, tears, fading, unstable, rusted, inoperable parts (like drawers) or contains odors (pets, cigarettes, cigars, etc.).

 

Items we accept:

  1. Clothing, purses, fragrance

  2. Toys and books

  3. Buffets and Credenzas

  4. Mirrored furniture with no damage, Acrylic contemporary furniture

  5. Sofas and Sofa Sleeper (with clean stain free mattresses only)

  6. Dressers, Chest, Nightstands, Gentlemen’s chest, Chest of drawers

  7. Love seats, Settees, Sectionals, Chaise Lounges

  8. Bookshelves made of real wood – no particle board

  9. Complete bunk beds, canopy beds, kids beds (must have head/foot boards and side rails

  10. Dining Sets, Dining tables, Bar tables, Counter height tables

  11. Nesting tables, Plant Stands, Side tables, Entrance tables, Console tables

  12. Sets of dining chairs (4 or more) dining, bar and counter height

  13. Side chairs, Lounge chairs, Occasional chairs

  14. Coffee/cocktail tables, Café/bistro tables and chairs

  15. Floor, Table, Desk and Swinging lamps ( No halogen, torchiere or with old wiring)

  16. Television stands (modern)

  17. Mirrors frames with no cracks, Rugs

  18. Framed Art

  19. Vases, bowls, decorative display pieces including floor vases

  20. Statues and figurines

  21. Leather items (especially sofas, sectionals, chairs and love seats)

  22. Recliners (must be operational)

  23. Power recliners, power sectionals/sofas, power theater chairs (must be operational)

  24. Desk, desk chairs, task chairs, writing desk, file cabinets ( with or without lock)

  25. Ottomans, storage chest, cedar chest

  26. Crystal vases, stemware sets. Glass sets, bar ware sets (no damage check for chipping)

  27. Candle sticks or holders, decorative plates with stands

  28. Bars, bar stools, counter stools, wine racks

  29. Trays and table decorative display items

  30. Asian style furniture, decorative screens

  31. In style animal print chairs, etc., throw pillows

  32. Coat racks, contemporary corner cabinets

  33. Kitchen carts and free standing kitchen islands

  34. Updated, stylish brass, chrome, gold and silver furniture and accessories

  35. Benches of all kinds, decorative items, boxes, bowls, etc.

  36. Small appliance-with all pieces

  37. Textiles- Curtains, Napkins, Cloth wall hangings, bedding, towels

 

Items we do not accept:

  1. Unclean merchandise

  2. Television cabinets or armories, desk armories

  3. Old model televisions

  4. Damaged furniture-WE DO NOT FIX FURNITURE-NO rips, tears(on the seams), stains, missing veneer, missing shelves, missing keys, missing anything, broken drawers or doors, gouges, unsteady (wiggly chairs), broken frames, missing glass, scratched glass, tarnished or rusted metal, things broken and glued back together, chipped or cracked glass

  5. Expired baby furniture

  6. Anything STINKY or damaged by an animal

  7. China Cabinets

  8. Used Mattresses, Waterbeds

  9. Political Anything

  10. Incomplete sets of anything

  11. Pre-installed light fixtures

  12. Anything with pet hair

 

QUALITY GUIDELINES:

​

Merchandise must be clean and ready

Upholstered and leather furniture must be clean and stain/odor free.

-Free of rips, stains, tears, worn upholstery

-Free from discoloration from sunlight or inconsistency of fabric

-Smoke free/odor free/free of pet hair

-Cushions should have little or no indication of sagging or lack of shape

-Stable construction Hard Goods (tables, bookcases, bedroom furniture, etc.)

-Free of major scratches; chips or other noticeable flaws

-Drawers and doors must operate properly

-Legs and frame must be sturdy

*There will be a final inspection of your items upon arrival prior to final intake of your items for pick up. We reserve the right to decline any items that do not meet our quality standards.
